Back from the grave

Is anyone still out there? = P Who cares..

So I'm starting this post up with 3 apps for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Rebirth, Korg IMS-20, Filtatron Moog app.

First up:  ReBirth.
ReBirth has got two different apps, though one is meant for the iPad, the other for the iPhone / iPod. The difference between the two from the start is the resolution, the iPad definitely looks a lot cleaner, which couple with the ability to actually use the multitouch features seems to be the sole reason for the price bump. $6.99 for the iPod / iPhone version, $14.99 for the iPad app.

Built in is 2 TR-303 Basslines, a TR-808 and a TR-909 drum machine. They also throw in some effects though I'm sure if you're planning on exporting any of this you're going to use the effects in your VST or DAW.

Either way its a ton of fun whether you plan to use anything you make with it or not, it's also incredibly easy with quick overwriting options and tons of presets for those who just want to get started.

Next up: Korg IMS-20
Korg has got a new beautiful app designed around the sounds available through a vintage analog synth called the IMS-20. They also decided to pack it with a bit of their kaoss pad technology, and a drum machine to give it a more studio, or DAW feel when producing.

"By combining a recreation of the Korg MS-20 analog synthesizer, an analog step-style sequencer, six-part drum machine, Kaoss-style performance, and a mixer to control it all, the iMS-20 will transform your iPad into one way-cool sound studio for the modern musician – and the analog enthusiast as well! "

Heres a nice video testing out just the mixer and drum machine :

Available for $15.99 until the 31st of January, 2011 @ which time it'll become a whopping $32.99

A beautiful representation of Moog sound, on the iPhone (or whatever iOS device). $4.99 on iTunes

"The heart of the Filtatron is a four-pole resonant Moog Ladder Filter-modelled after the same filter that gives Moog instruments their classic warm, thick character.  Use it to shape the sounds supplied by the on-board oscillator, sampler and line input. " - Filtatron

  • Moog Ladder Filter – 4 pole resonant Moog Ladder Filter, with Lowpass and Highpass modes and adjustable cutoff and resonance parameters.
  • Oscillator – a high-resolution, alias-free DSP oscillator with sawtooth and square waveforms, adjustable frequency from 0.3 Hz to 2kHz.
  • LFO – five waveforms: sine, ramp, sawtooth, square, sample & hold, with crossfade and morph between adjacent LFO shapes.
  • Envelope Follower – uses the volume envelope of sound inputs to sweep the filter, with controls for amount and speed.
  • Amp and Delay FX Modules – Amp provides warm, smooth overdrive with feedback control. Delay can be modulated by its own LFO (with rate and depth controls) and delay time is smoothly interpolated for analog-style delay time tweaks.
  • File Sharing – Easily move audio files back and forth between the Filtatron and your computer. Audio Copy and Audio Paste enables sharing audio between the Filtatron and other compatible apps. Built-in email function allows sharing presets with other Filtatron users.
  • Record and Playback – All audio processed in stereo, 16bit, 44.1kHz resolution. Filtatron will record samples up to 10MB. Tap and Drag sets start and end points for seamless looping. Playback control can be adjusted from double-speed playback all the way down through zero to double-speed reverse.

On a side note;

Damon Albarn has told NME that he has been recording a new Gorillazalbum on his iPad.

Speaking in this week's issue (cover date November 13), on UK newsstands now and available digitally worldwideAlbarn said he has been working on a follow-up to'Plastic Beach' while on tour with the band.

"I've made it on an iPad – I hope I'll be making the first record on aniPad," he said. "I fell in love with myiPad as soon as I got it, so I've made a completely different kind of record."

Albarn added that he wants to release the album "before Christmas".
